Does it work without internet or mobile signal?
Yes. Fingerprints are matched on the controller itself. The app is used to enrol users and
change settings, not to authorise a start. A machine in a basement, a field or a shipping
yard behaves exactly the same as one sitting in an office car park.
What voltage does it run on?
9–24 V DC as standard, so the same unit fits 12 V motorcycles and cars and 24 V trucks, buses and plant. For higher-voltage DC systems we build to requirement, up to 240 V DC — tell us the supply when you enquire.
Can it be retrofitted, or is it only for new machines?
Retrofit is the normal case. The sensor mounts in a round cut-out and the controller wires
into the circuit you would otherwise interrupt with an immobiliser or relay. Most of the
machines shown on this page are existing equipment, not new builds.
What happens if the authorised person is unavailable?
Enrol more than one person. Access is per-user, so a supervisor, a relief operator or a
maintenance engineer can each be authorised and removed independently.
Does it replace the ignition or work alongside it?
Either. It can be the sole means of starting a machine, or an additional layer on top of
the existing key or switch so that both are required.
How do I remove someone who has left?
Delete them in the app. There is no key to recover, no card to deactivate and no lock to
re-barrel.
Can it talk to our telematics or PLC?
Yes. The PLC pin drives a hardware output, and the serial port can pass the authenticated
identity to a telematics unit, kiosk controller or industrial PLC.
Is there an API, geofencing or remote start?
Yes, on units with a SIM/GPRS connection: a user-management API, geofencing, and remote
start and stop. Fingerprint matching still runs on the board, so the vehicle starts for
enrolled users even without a signal. More on the API.
